I can show you the world Shining, shimmering, splendid Tell me, princess, now when did You last let your heart decide?
Review April, 21st 2016 One of the most romantic melodies, not only from the cartoon about Aladdin, but in general among the tunes of this essence. This pop sung by two bright young voices, neatly intertwined all along, under the ringing and shimmering sounds, among which the basis is made by violin instruments. In loved with each other – this impression they leave about themselves and their feelings are clean and are not marred by cloudy things on their horizon.
Love in its best manifestation.
'A Whole New World' is a song from Disney's animated feature film Aladdin (1992). It was composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Tim Rice. The song is a romantic love song and the theme song of the animated movie, featuring a ballad between the main characters Aladdin and Jasmine. The original film version was sung by Lea Salonga and Brad Kane. A single version of the song was released featuring singers Regina Belle and Peabo Bryson. This version is played in the movie's end credits and is referred on the soundtrack as 'Aladdin's Theme'. The single version of 'A Whole New World'.
Asked about 'A Whole New World' on The Paul Leslie Hour, Tim Rice recalled: 'That one I did write and that was very successful, in fact in a way my biggest hit song ever 'cause it went to number one in America and it won Grammy Song of the Year I think, and also it won an Oscar so it was a mighty successful song. I was surprised we won actually, I thought we wouldn't win half of these things. I thought we had a shot at the Oscar but I never thought we would have won the Grammy.
It was such a great tune Alen Menken wrote and it was a nice scene in the film and the film was a big hit. Tim Rice told Broadwayworld.com 'The brilliant lyricist for Aladdin was Howard Ashman, who with composer Alan Menken had played a huge part in reviving the Disney studios animation fortunes with The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. They were now working together on Aladdin, which looked certain to give them and Disney a third consecutive smash hit.
But the great Howard Ashman had become desperately ill and was never able to complete the work he had started on Aladdin. Songs were still needed, in particular the central romantic ballad, and, as the bloke on their block, Disney rushed. Alen Menken worked with Howard Ashman to compose songs for Aladdin. Directors Ron Clements and John Musker first talked to Menken and Ashman about writing a song for the Magic Carpet ride but following Ashman's death, Menken wasn't able to write it or to finish the rest of the songs. Alan Menken's try at writing a love song between Aladdin and Jasmine was called 'The World at Your Feet'. It became 'A Whole New World' once lyricist Tim Rice joined the project.
